Seven Sacred Pools

Home to tiered pools fed by several waterfalls

Details

Commonly referred to as Seven Sacred Pools, the famous Pools of 'Ohe'o in 'Ohe'o Gulch is home to tiered pools fed by several waterfalls, bamboo forests, and amazing ocean views from Haleakalā National Park. Located on East Maui approximately 15 minutes south of Hāna on Highway 31 on the lower slopes of Haleakalā, this area is popular for hiking and nature trips. Swimming is not allowed at Seven Pools, but they can be viewed safely from the Kūloa Point Trail. To get to the gulch, drive to the Kῑpahulu section of Haleakalā National Park; from Hāna it takes about 25 – 30 minutes. If you decide to hike the Pipiwai Trail, which leads to the 400-foot Waimoku Falls, make sure to ask park rangers at the Kῑpahulu Visitor Center before you start this three- to five-hour hike.
