One of Maui’s most in-demand makeup artists, Kymberly Marr has long been guided by a natural artistic instinct — something her mother says she showed from an early age. Originally from Kansas, Marr moved to Maui more than 25 years ago and built a career working with bridal clients. “My signature look is ‘Your best self!’” she says. “I look at makeup like icing on a cake — soft, natural, glowy, beachy glam.” Known for sending brides off with custom lip colors for touch-ups, Marr saw growing demand for her creations. When weddings paused during the pandemic, she used the time to develop her own line, launching Kymberly Marr Cosmetics in 2020. The brand debuted with its popular “lippies,” each named after a Maui beach, and has since expanded to include products such as Liquid Sunshine bronzer, ‘Ele‘ele smudge-proof mascara, and Mineral Sheer Tint with SPF 20. Currently, Marr is working on a line of Satin Foundation that will be light and buildable, with an airbrush finish, for all ages and skin tones. The vegan, cruelty-free line is now carried at luxury spas throughout the islands. Despite the success of her cosmetics line, Marr continues to enjoy doing makeup for events and editorials, preferring smaller weddings. “I feel like I’m their best friend on Maui they didn’t know they had.”
