Climb aboard this 40-minute conductor-narrated tour of the 105-acre Kilohana Plantation in the same type of locomotive used in the sugarcane fields. Relax in the mahogany and ipe wood cars while you are entertained and educated by knowledgeable conductors. The 2.5-mile rail line passes stands of original island crops like sugarcane and taro, and you will pass groves of mango, banana, papaya, pineapple, and native and exotic hardwoods from around the world. Learn about Kaua‘i’s agriculture and history. Well out into the heart of the plantation you will disembark to spend time feeding the pigs, goats, sheep, and our friendly donkey, Stiney. For the total experience, enjoy a guided 3.5 hour tour, complete with train ride, lunch, history, and a 1.5-mile walk to explore the grounds and sample fruits from twelve acres of exotic tropical trees. There is something for everyone. It’s fun for all ages.
