In the chilly hills of Kula on the slope of Haleakalā, designer Ana Garcia works out of her home — a renovated historic 1920s Lahaina train car. The space is eclectic and bohemian, a perfect reflection of Garcia and her brand, Anitoli, the jewelry line she started in 2023. “Earthy, authentic, and a little bit funky,” is how she describes it. “I love mixing natural elements like shells and stones with elevated, everyday pieces that you can layer and wear anywhere.” The line is bold and playful, from chunky bracelets made of unusual beads to statement pendant necklaces. Her best-sellers are her Lariat and Double Wrap necklaces, along with the Isla Midi choker. Garcia hails from the Dominican Republic and got her creative streak from her mother and grandmother. She later moved to Maui for a fashion internship in 2021, and the influence of these two island lifestyles can be seen in her designs. Touches of the ocean emerge in shell and fish motifs, and the fun shapes and bright colors have a decidedly Latin vibe. “My personal style is relaxed but funky with vintage pieces, shoes, and jewelry that I’ve collected over time,” she says. After three years in the making, her clothing line will debut later this year.
